Rehabilitation Of Contaminated Aquifers
Aquifer rehabilitation may involve in situ treatment, or removal and disposal or recovery of contaminants. These options can be applied to problems of hydrocarbon and chemical spill recovery, other organic waste control, sludge removal and disposal, other industrial waste disposal, and oil or gas well field management. Contaminant hydrogeology, an integral aspect of such projects, involves the study of the behaviour of inorganic and organic contaminants in surface water and groundwater flow regimes. The movement of contaminants involves a complex interaction of physical, chemical and biological processes.
