Terence Williams Architect (TWAI) is a Victoria-based Architecture, Planning and Interior Design company that was founded in 1946. Our mandate is to assist our clients in making projects successful, beautiful, meaningful and long- lasting, by creatively applying the art, science and humanism of architecture, to the business and craft of building.
As Architects and Prime Consultants we foster cooperation among clients, design team, approval agencies and users, toward the production of successful projects in a non-adversarial, creative and collaborative design process. As Registered Professionals TWAI and its successor firms have successfully completed projects of all scales for both public and private sector clients. These include: renovation and adaptive re-use of historic buildings, design of institutional, academic, cultural, retail, office, civic, residential, industrial and specialized academic buildings as well as mixed-use buildings. Planning projects include Smart-growth and Sustainable Development Planning, feasibility studies, development programs, strategic plans and conceptual studies.
Our Comprehensive Waterfront, and Brownfield plans have received international recognition. Applied research and planning has been accomplished using a number of participatory methods including Public Design Workshops and Design Charrettes. We base all our architecture, open space, parks, landscapes, town plans and the production of design guidelines on proven design principles derived through a holistic process and guided by a shared vision with our clients. Emphasis is placed on the appropriate and sustainable long-term fit of our designs into their physical, ecological, social, cultural and historical contexts.
