Strategic Alternatives

Strategic Alternatives is a boutique management consulting firm that specializes in helping organizations do what they do better when delivering environmental programs and services. Since 1996, we have set the standard in the areas of operational assessments, program reviews, and business planning.

Strategic Alternatives' approach typically relies on:
(1) Situational Assessments to pinpoint strengths and weaknesses, and maximize opportunities to achieve corporate objectives.
(2) Options Analysis to evaluate the impact of alternative strategies.
(3) Implementation Frameworks that describe how to effectively carry out the most appropriate solutions, and stay in control.

Our clients achieve success by relying on Strategic Alternatives as a specialized resource for individual projects, to manage multi-disciplinary teams, or when time is of the essence. We have established a solid reputation for producing superior results on time and within budget.

REPRESENTATIVE ASSIGNMENTS

The Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency (CEAA) hired Strategic Alternatives to undertake a comprehensive evaluation of its Research and Development Program. The CEAA is currently making improvements to the structure and delivery of the Program.

Strategic Alternatives was retained by the City of Toronto to provide advice and assistance on a water utility study, which examined alternative governance options for water and sewage services.

Strategic Alternatives was commissioned by Associate Chief Justice Dennis O'Connor of the Walkerton Inquiry to prepare three reports: Financing Water Infrastructure , Governance and Methods of Service Delivery for Water and Sewage Infrastructure, and The Cost of Clean Water: Estimates of the Costs Arising from the Recommendations of the Walkerton Inquiry. These reports detail the practices, principles and potential reforms needed to overcome problems with Ontario's water systems.
