Rasmussen Log Homes Ltd.

Located in the beautiful Okanagan Valley of British
Columbia, Rasmussen Log Homes has been building custom
handcrafted log homes since 1980.

Each log used in construction is handpicked by our
experienced builders. All logs are air dried and hand peeled.
Our average mid-span log diameter is 13``-15``. Logs are
full length with no butt joints. The species of logs used are
Spruce, Douglas Fir and Red Cedar. Corners are joined
using a shrink-to-fit. Norwegian notch. All logs are full
scribed.

In a Rasmussen Log Home, all window and door openings
are cut and slotted with a key-way. A settling space is left
above all window and door openings to alow for settling.
All log shells are predrilled with a 1 1/4`` hole to house
electrical wiring. All electrical boxes are chiselled out of the
logs.

To maintain a tight fit during the dying and settling process,
we use a thru-bolt system. Holes are pre-drilled throughout
the log shell at strategic points in the log walls. When the
log shell is re-erected, `` steel rods are placed into these
holes. These rods or thru-bolts reach from the top of the log
wall down through the sub-floor or foundation wall. Thru-
olts add additional structural integrity to a log home. You
can expect your log home to settle up to 4`` over a period of
3 to 5 years.

Once the log shell is completed, all log ends, window and
door openings and archways are fine sanded for a smooth
finished look. The logs in the window and door openings are
flare back and sanded. Interior partition cuts are completed
where a log wall will met a framed wall. All log ceiling
beams are pre-flattered to accept flooring material. The
ridgepole and purlin logs will be pre-flattered to the roof
pitch to accommodate roofing material.

Prior to dis-assembly for shipping, all logs are tagged and
numbered for easy re-erection at the building site. A
Rasmussen Log Homes representative will assist in re-
assembling your log shell onto your foundation. Delivery
times vary according to the size of home being built, and
booking space in our building schedule.
