Plasma Environmental Technologies Inc.

'Plasma Environmental Technologies Inc. is a developer and distributer of advanced waste elimination technologies. The company has in-house development capability and also licenses with other developers, and enters into strategic alliances for access to other technologies. This strategy enables Plasma Environmental to continually offer state-of-the-art waste processing facilities for a range of critical global waste problems.

The company's core product is the parcon, a plasma arc reactor for destruction of recalcitrant liquid or gaseous wastes such as chemical weapons, pesticides, petroleum derivatives, PCBs and other highly chlorinated wastes. PARCON has repeatedly proven the ability to destroy these wastes with a Destruction and Removal Efficiency of > 99.9999%.

PARCON technology is very adaptable to specific project requirements pertaining to both chemistry and site characteristics. One of the most significant benefits is its ability to integrate with other technologies: this underpins the strategy of licensing, strategic alliances, and in-house development. Plasma Environmental can assemble partners to design and build a facility for best-available-technology performance in projects ranging from bulk liquid waste destruction, to medical waste processing / destruction, to MSW processing / resource recovery / Energy from Waste, to Superfund-type remediation.

Plasma Environmental's PARCON is export ready and key technology partners have been active exporters for up to 30 years. The company has the exclusive license, through its joint venture partner which developed the PARCON to market it in North America, Central America, South America, and Asia. Technology partners own all global rights to their products and the applicable patents.

Export sales of PARCON technology are structured in the following ways: as a direct sale to client company or government; as a technology transfer; or as a distributor agreement. Issues such as territory exclusivity, technology development rights, and financial structure of a technology transfer or a distributor agreement are open to negotiation case-by-case. Plasma Environmental will normally assume an equity position in a company formed to market the technology in a new territory. This helps to ensure optimum application of the technology, and provides visible support for the company and technology in the new market.

Territories are still available in Asia, South and Central America, and parts of Canada and the USA.

Parcon (plasma Arc Conversion) Technology Destroys Liquid Wastes To 99.9999%.
PARCON technology is available in transportable units ranging from 12.5 kilograms per hour to 200 kg/hour feed capacity. Developed and designed specifically for destruction of the environment's most problematic liquid chemical wastes, including pesticides, PCBs, chemical weapons, fungicides, and petroleum derivatives. Destruction and Removal Efficiency exceeds the EPA standard of 99.9999%, with documented DRE as high as > 99.999998%. Waste molecules are instantaneously disintegrated when injected directly into a highly energized plasma field at approximately 5000C (> 9000F). Following Molecular disintegration the atoms are oxidized and then rapidly cooled and quenched to prevent formation of the carcinogenic toxins dioxin and furan. A chemical scrubbing process cleans the exit gas for release to the atmosphere. US-EPA Region IX has classified the parcon as a 'non-incineration thermal technology'. Waste destruction is not achieved through combustion as in incineration, and harmful emissions are far below the standards set by environmental protection agencies. For example, the PARCON emission of dioxin/furan has been documented at 0.03 nanograms per cubic metre (ng/Nm3), a small fraction of the allowable level US-EPA standard of 0.2 ng/Nm3. A PARCON is safe, quiet and non-intrusive. It can be assembled and disassembled quickly with minimal staff and equipment, so it is ideal for mobile applications, as well as long-term sites. Modular configuration permits operation of multiple reactor units from a central control and power module so different wastestreams can be processed simultaneously. Emergency shutdown takes only 30 seconds which virtually eliminates accidental releases of pollutants.

Parcon-sw System Reduces Waste Volume By Up To 50:1 And Produces Useable, Non-leachable, Vitrified Slag.
A plasma furnace eliminates wastes in liquid, solid, sludge, and soil matrices. Both hazardous and non-hazardous wastes are completely neutralized or destroyed by the PARCON-SW system. Inorganic wastes are melted and tapped in vitrified form as a glass-like slag; metals are melted and tapped as a recovered resource. Organic wastes are pyrolized and the rich pyrolysis gas is fed to a parcon plasma reactor for destruction as in a standard PARCON. The furnace uses a transferred arc plasma torch to heat the bath material, which includes silica for slag formation, to about 1750 - 1800C. Consistent and thorough melting and pyrolysis is achieved by rotating the electrode in a circular pattern through the bath. A primary differentiating feature of the PARCON-SW compared with other plasma furnace systems is the utilization of a PARCON reactor to process and destroy the organic pyrolysis gas. Most plasma furnaces use a natural gas-fired afterburner, burning at approximately 900-1000C, to process pyrolysis gas before it is scrubbed and released. In contrast the PARCON-SW pyrolysis gas is injected directly into the PARCON reactor's 5000C, highly energized plasma field. As a result the PARCON-SW system is able to achieve the same 99.9999% Destruction & Removal Efficiency (DRE) performance that the standard PARCON achieves in liquid waste DRE. Like the standard PARCON the SW model has very low emissions of pollutants compared to the regulatory standards of environmental protection agencies. The vitrified slag passes drinking water tests for leachability, and it may be used as a construction material.
