courses. Thus, product quality is assured and the company
maintains its leadership in the fields of production efficiency
and technology. Moreover, MAURICE WELDING SHOP has acquired the
services of B.H. Martin Consultants, experts in engineering

THE FRUITS OF HARD WORK...
In 1959, without a cent to his name, a young graduate from the
Institut des Mtiers du Qubec opened up a small welding shop in
Hearst, Ontario. The company's beginnings, in a tiny garage
belonging to the young man's uncle, were modest to say the least.
The fact that it has become a prosperous mid-size business is due
entirely to the courage and determination of its founder, and of
his supporting wife. Maurice Gaudreau was more than a first-class
welder; he was also a tireless worker, ready to labour day and
night to satisfy the needs of his customers.

A few years later, the company began its process of expansion by
moving into a garage on the present site of MAURICE WELDING SHOP.
The new premises, built by Maurice Gaudreau himself under
difficult conditions allowed the company to offer a wider range
of services. In 1970, this secondary industry had to double its
floorspace to keep up with market demand.

In 1977, the firm expanded once again its premises and confirmed
its leadership in the area of technological change.

The expertise of MAURICE WELDING SHOP has since been recognized
by various manufacturing enterprises in the area and by transport
companies throughout Northeastern Ontario.

MAURICE WELDING SHOP now offers a complete range of services to
fulfill the needs of the forestry and transportation industries
considered as the company's two major demand markets. MAURICE
WELDING SHOP also manufactures quality trailers under the
trademark HEARST TRAILERS. The company accepts personal and
specific orders and is able to furnish most spare parts for
trucks and trailers.

The management structure of MAURICE WELDING SHOP underwent a
major modification during 1984. Maurice Gaudreau, anxious to keep
the company in the Hearst area and to share its success with his
key employees, formed a new company and offered shares to three
important colleagues: Marcel Boissonneault, Yvon Lger and
Georges Grandmont.

Today, MAURICE WELDING SHOP is setting out on a new phase in its
history by planning to build new, modern premises which will
adequately meet the demands of today's market. These new premises
represent a major turning point for the company by providing the
additional space needed to improve the inventory system and thus
to develop a spare-parts distribution network for trucks and
trailers. MAURICE WELDING SHOP also plans to transform the
present manufacturing process by the introduction of ultra-modern
technology which will improve the quality of its products and
allow the company to become more competitive than ever.

From the beginning, MAURICE WELDING SHOP has confirmed its
position as leader in Hearst's secondary sector. Over the years
the company has made remarkable progress without any outside help
whatsoever. It owes its success to the driving force of its
founders, Yvette and Maurice Gaudreau, and to the co-operation of
a highly-qualified group of employees who have all been trained
at MAURICE WELDING SHOP and who all hold Ontario government
qualifications.
