Specialized Vertical And Horizontal Remedial Well Installations.
Vertical and horizontal remediation well installations provide environmental assessment and practical remediation technology to most soil and groundwater contamination problems. The services vary according to the scope of the project but typically include drilling and rock coring, primary site investigations, sludge containment and analysis, either single technology, or fully integrated vertical and horizontal remediation well installations, on or off-site laboratory analysis, extraction or bioremediation of the contaminant, and/or licensed removal and off-site contaminated waste disposal. Horizontal remediation well technology offers a specialized, non-disruptive, economical and effective solution to contaminated site remediation where excavation is either too costly or impeded by existing physical structures (e.g. highways and buildings). Flexible technology and material options are available for specific contaminants. It requires more heavy machinery and is more labour intensive than its vertical counterpart, but it remains a useful technology in specific no-dig situations. Vertical remediation well technology involves less machinery and construction, and is consequently a less costly and more commonly used technology. It involves drill rigs fitted with various auger sizes, and core barrels, each with various sampling capacities. Vertical drill rigs are often track-mounted to allow for easy all terrain mobility. Both vertical and horizontal well technologies use similar materials in their construction. The well materials typically include environmentally friendly grouts and lubricants, stainless steel or chemical resistant PVC well screens, and various grades of stone and silica sand.
