The Industrial Research & Development Institute (IRDI), located
in Midland, Ontario, is a member driven institute founded in
1992. The Institute's current members include 275 of Canada's
leading companies involved in the shaping of materials,
including the Tool, Die and Mould, and related industries. IRDI
provides advanced technical and research support in projects
such as rapid product development, process optimization,
tribology and materials analysis. Its technology groups include
Metalforming, Plastics and Composites, and Machining, and its
Knowledge Centre provides technical information gathered from
global public sources and educational services in the form of
seminars, workshops and training programs to fill specific
