Flow & Plug Treatment System
Filter Innovations has designed and developed their Flow & Plug Treatment System to continuously remove oils and organic contaminants from industrial & natural waters. This is the only waste water discharge system which permits continuous process operations while allowing you to meet or exceed government regulations for the direct discharge of effluents to sewers or natural watercourse. Each 'System' has two important features: It permits the continuous absorption of oil, greases, PCB's, pentachlorophenols and other large molecular weight organics; upon saturation it signals and shuts down the discharge systems. Remediation applications for which the Flow & Plug Treatment System is particularly suited include: Rainwater runoff from power generating stations; Bilge water discharge direct into rivers, lakes, oceans; ground water contaminated with hydrocarbons; rainwater runoff from tank farms, landfill areas, parking lots In these applications the Flow & Plug Treatment Systems provide economic alternatives with no operator attention to achieve discharge levels of 15 ppm.

Ultrafiltration
Wastewater containing oil is generated as a result of many different types of manufacturing. Some common processes generating oily wastewater are: metal cutting and forming operations, pressure washing, metal finishing, food manufacturing, printing, and machine lubrication. Businesses generating such wastewaters are more frequently not allowed to discharge to sewer. In such cases, a waste generator has two choices: pay a waste disposal company to pick up and dispose of the waste, or treat the wastewater on site and either reuse or recycle the treated water. Recycling Capability The trend is towards a greater degree of recycling and higher amount of resource utilization. By treating the wastewater on site, valuable constituents of the waste may be recovered for reuse, or the water itself may be treated to the point of being acceptable for reuse in the manufacturing operation. For many types of oily wastewaters, on site treatment using membrane filtration is the best available and lowest cost technology. Ultrafiltration Ultrafiltration is a filtration process where components of a liquid are separated based on their difference in size. In the treatment of oily wastewater, ultrafiltration membranes will retain oil and grease while allowing water to pass through. Ultrafiltration membranes are especially effective at separating emulsified oils not separable by settling, skimming, or coalescing from water. The following are specific uses of membrane filtration for the treatment of commonly generated oily wastewaters: Spent machine shop coolants Mop water/floor washings Pressure washer effluent Food processing Air compressor condensate Metal finishing Dye penetrant Commercial ultrafiltration systems are available to treat any amount of oily wastewater, no matter how small or large. Ultrafiltration systems are ready to use for pilot testing in the plant or near the wastewater source. Other applications available using ultrafi ltration: Printing Industry: Concentration of Flexo-graphic ink from wastewater streams Concentration of polymers from etching process; allows reuse of lactic acids for removal of polymers Concentration of inks from lithographic fountain solution; allows reuse of fountain solution Textile Dye Industry: Removal of colour from wastewater streams Plating Industry: Removal of particulate and metal ions to extend bath life
