Background: In the late 1970s, Jean-Marie Lizotte, a civil engineer with some 15 years' experience in water treatment, noted that public opinion was becoming increasingly aware of environmental issues, which were also of increasing concern to private and parapublic sector business leaders. Knowing that the vast majority of industries use water at some point in their production, he decided in 1979 to found Enviroservices, a firm specializing in water engineering.
Quebec'S Leader In Water Engineering: Enviroservices' team, which began with 3 people, now has more than 20 specialists: engineers, biologists, biochemists and technicians. The quality of their work has won Enviroservices the 1988 Dominique Rollin award of excellence -- a prestigious award given by the South Shore chamber of commerce -- and the 1996 'Business of the Year' award of excellence from the Des Moulins chamber of commerce.
Enviroservices has participated in several studies on the status of and discharge carried by sewer systems (I/I study) or industrial effluents.
Enviroservices is the largest private Canadian owner of liquid environmental data collection equipment, with some $750,000 of various leading-edge technology equipment.
