Originally called BESTEK Micro Devices and Systems in 1983 as an R&D consulting group, it was re-named EnRel Energy Corp in 1995 to focus on a new corporate objective of rapid growth in the renewable energy field.


It is privately owned by founder-President Nae Ismail who in 1967 pioneered the first industrially fabricated space grade silicon solar cell for his employer Northern Electric (now NORTEL) in Canada. Nae is a semiconductor material and IC microchip, multi-colour LED and solar cell device fabrication physicist with hands-on experience in all aspects of microelectronics from crystal growth, diffusion, photolithography imaging, thin film processing, cleaning, laser cutting, IC packaging, to assembly, computerized testing, and solar panel production. He also designed switch mode power supplies for LANDSAT satellites and microwave devices for the US Navy. Nae had international executive expertise in USA, Mexico, Caribbean, Africa, India, Pakistan, Japan and Malaysia.


Over the past 2 decades, Nae has amassed a strong technical team to design and build advanced energy systems to satisfy sophisticated clients like RCMP (Royal Canadian Mounted Police) and foreign embassies. He also maintains a strong connection with mainland China where many EnRel products are produced or sourced under arrangement.

Inverters


These solid state circuits convert DC battery energy into conventional AC power sources similar to household mains (grid electricity). It is critical to make correct choice of inverter based on country of use, either 110V-60 Hz (N. America, some parts of Caribbean and Central America) or 220V-50 Hz (mostly Europe, Mid-East, India, Africa and Pacific Asia) in its output. In doing so, places outside of hydro line or prone to hydro blackout can continue operation of equipment when power is out. They are rated by the amount of energy that can be handled, in watts or kilo-watts.


Grid electricity is produced by rotating turbines, and has a perfect sinusoidal waveform output. Inverter, however, can have either pure sinewave(as hydro) or modified-sinewave outputs.


Lighting


Signage - Lit signs communicate directions or draw attention from passing motorists and pedestrians to messages to be conveyed.


EnRel Energy lighting products are exclusively 12V DC battery operated to be universally useful anywhere in the world, by not using local grid electricity. The energy required can be replenished by renewable sources like sunlight or wind, hence zero energy costs to the owner from the beginning. They are ideal for stand-alone widespread installations where sabotage has little damaging effects. Capable of being turned ON (and Off) rapidly at will in hot and cold (down to 40 C) weather without waiting, being 500% more energy efficient, and lasting at least 10 times longer, than incandescent Edison bulbs, they produce little to no waste heat and therefore pose no risk of burns or fire. Their high (8290%) colour index brings out true colours of the surrounding, and yield crisp quality photos for cameras.


Streetlamps


The EnRel Energy SOLBRITE M1 series of solar streetlamps are designed for locations where grid power is either unavailable or inconsistent, hard-to-access terrain, burying ground cables or running overhead wires are difficult or costly, or sabotage by terrorists or storms is a concern.


Common streetlamps generally use mercury vapour (bluish), or high pressure sodium (orange), or low pressure sodium (very yellow) bulbs. They are slowly ignited by a ballast (circuit) that takes 10-15 minutes to warm up. If power is interrupted (daily events in developing nations where grid electricity is short in supply), the bulb must be cooled down before re-ignition, or else the expensive ballast can be destroyed. Electric streetlamps in most countries fail for this reason.


SOLBRITE lamp controller is a proprietary EnRel Energy circuit board that controls solar charging of a battery in a streetlamp, senses sunset, turns ON automatically, sends power to a lamp fixture for lighing, and turns OFF after a set time each night, or at sunrise. It can be put in a (motion) sensing mode (option) that turns lamp on momentarily after it has shut down to conserve energy, or to reduce light pollution by desire.


A modified version does all of above plus igniting a compact fluorescent bulb as well.


Solar LEDs


This integrated self-powered night marker will find its way into each home, garden, pool, deck, lane, gate, fence, trail, marina, dock, trailer, barn, outhouse, flag post, boat mast, bus stop, train station, parking lot, etc, etc. Sturdy rust-proof stainless steel body and attractive clear acrylic lens completes its perfection. Easy screw mounting on any flat surface. Principally white colour, but yellow, red or green can be ordered as special options. Ideal for distant alert applications (house number) but un-obtrusive to quaint surroundings. In tropical nights in rural areas, it emits sufficient light at the door, kept open for cool air, to discourage poisonous snakes from entering and avoid incidents of bites.

EnRel Energy's proprietary SOLBRITE streetlights have light output equivalent to 100W to 250W incandescent, and switch ON rapidly even in 40 C below zero weather. They work well with motion detectors, and installation is achievable manually on step ladders (thus no need for hydraulic trucks) and yet without on-site wiring. Clear and tough LEXAN lenses shield the (15,000 hr.) long lasting bulb from harm and mirror reflectors spread the bright white light for true colour rendering. SOLBRITE's high efficiency design keeps lights ON all night in sunny tropics, and has battery reserve commonly for 5 cloudy days, or longer if desirable. Its integral structure and mounting technique are prepared for high wind situations. EnRel Energy's 12V CF lamps not only eliminate greenhouse gas (GHG) emission by doing away with candles and kerosene flames, but also save the clients much money over time by using solar rechargeable batteries as a FREE power source.
