Challenger Engineering, formerly The Phoenix Group , an Alberta consulting engineering firm, has been providing high quality, practical and efficient engineering services to all three levels of government and the private sector since 1984. The company is wholly employee-owned and is based in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. The principals of the firm are professionals who provide direct input into the design, construction supervision and administration of multi-disciplined engineering projects. Besides providing expertise in Civil, Municipal and Environmental engineering disciplines, Challenger Engineering has access to a network of professionals and firms providing specialized consulting services in the areas of planning, landscape architecture and the biological sciences.
In 1995, The Phoenix India Group, a subsidiary office, was opened in New Delhi by joint-venture with an Indian engineering and construction management firm. Along with technical expertise, The Phoenix India Group can provide project management services for multi-disciplinary design-build projects in India. As well, it provides liaison for Indian companies looking for technical collaboration with Canadian companies for technology transfer, and helps Canadian companies to procure and execute projects in the Indian market. Projects have been completed for the Gas Authority of India Limited and for land development in New Delhi. Other projects include preparation of feasibility studies for government organizations and for the Indian private sector.
The Phoenix Group's scope of services include practical, cost-effective solutions for wastewater treatment for industrial, agricultural and municipal requirements. We offer supply and installation of equipment for retrofitting and upgrading of lagoons and raw water reservoirs with fine-bubble aerations systems. A fine-bubble aeration system is an efficient, low-maintenance alternative to more costly mechanical aeration systems. An alternative to conventional settle and treatment processes, biological water purification using special microorganisms is another area of expertise. The Bacta-Pur System utilizes the activity of special microorganisms to enhance the aquatic ecology of wastewater lagoons and lakes to improve water quality and prevent eutrophication. In combination, aeration and bio-augmentation is a natural, cost-effective option for rehabilitating polluted water bodies, treating wastewater, or for maintaining a healthy environment for fish farming.
