Cape Breton University

An Atlantic Canadian leader, UCCB provides opportunities and
partnerships to help learners and communities meet educational,
cultural and economic goals. UCCB education, training and
discovery models have helped shape the progress of this region
and its people for more than 25 years.

As a university college, UCCB offers a full range of
undergraduate degrees, diploma programs, and technology skills
development options. An impressive record of industrial outreach
and an expanding distance education offering complement existing
academic and skills training strengths. It is home to more than
3,400 students, of whom seven per cent are Mi'kmaq and 2 per
cent are international. The campus is located in the Cape Breton
Regional Municipality, the second-largest urban center in Nova
Scotia with a population of about 120,000. Popularly known
as 'Nova Scotia's Masterpiece', Cape Breton is one of the
world's premier tourist destinations.

In addition to traditional degrees in arts, science and
business, UCCB has developed unique Bachelor of Arts in
Community Studies (BACS) and Bachelor of Science in Community
Studies (BScCS) programs that emphasize problem-solving
methodologies.

The Bachelor of Technology degree enables students to major in a
growing number of fields, such as information and environmental
technology. Many of our business technology and engineering
technology diploma programs can be applied towards a degree as
well. We also offer a number of certificate programs and two
graduate programs -- the Master of Business Administration in
Community Economic Development [MBA (CED)] and the Masters in
Education - IT (in conjunction with Memorial University of
Newfoundland).

Our Co-operative education program enables students in many of
our programs to gain valuable and often salaried work experience
in addition to classroom study. As well, UCCB offers more
international exchange opportunities than any other university
in Eastern Canada. Students may participate in these programs
for one or two semesters.

Small class sizes, excellent research facilities, distance
education options, active Students' Union, athletics, and a
student-centered philosophy are just some of the reasons
students choose UCCB.
