Founded in 1994, Biomedical Photometrics Inc. (BPI) develops multifunctional laser scanners and software that employ patented confocal MACROscope technology. Resulting products offer multiple detection methods (fluorescence, transmission, reflectance etc.), high optical resolution, and a wide field-of-view, allowing large specimens to be imaged 10 times as fast without image integrity issues as compared with traditional tiling imaging techniques.

The GeneFocus division designs and manufactures instrumentation and software used in unraveling the mysteries of the human genome and proteome. GeneFocus produces cost-effective systems, adaptable to a variety of DNA, protein, and tissue array application areas.

Tissuescope
The TISSUEscope is a fully integrated system for fluorescent, transmitted and reflected light scanning of biological tissue samples and tissue microarrays, based on patented MACROscope confocal laser scanning technology. The MACROscope design enables both high optical resolution and wide field-of-view, allowing an entire specimen in an area up to 22mm X 70mm to be scanned in a single pass thereby minimizing tedious 'tiling' and/or stitching together of many small images.
