Incorporated in 1978, Alan A. Smith Inc. started as a consulting
engineering firm in the area of stormwater management
engineering. In 1985, the firm released Miduss, which stands for
Micro Interactive Design of Urban Stormwater Systems. The product

engineering consultants, colleges and universities, and
government approval agencies. In 1998, the firm released its
Microsoft Windows based version, called Miduss98 updated to MIDUSS Version 2 in 2004 and is available for a free trial by downloading from web sites or
. The software helps engineers design
complex stormwater networks of pipes, ponds, channels and
diversions. There are numerous hydrology models built in and the program is constantly being updated.
